Hello, my name is Janos Kummer (b.1983) an award winning photographer, based in Budapest, Hungary.
During my studies of economics, In 2006 I recieved a scholarship to take part in a photography program in Denmark at the Vraa Hojskole, later this year I continued my studies at the faculty of photojournalism of MÚOSZ Balint Gyorgy Academy of Journalism in Budapest. From 2008 until the end of 2015 I worked as a photojournalist and photo editor at zoom.hu, Napi Gazdaság, 24.hu and VS.hu. At the moment I travel as much as I can and mostly work for international news agencies, publications, companies and for the Hungarian State Opera as one of their official photographer.
In 2010 I was nominated for the Lex van Rossen Award for European music photography which was exhibited all around Europe. Altough, I consider myself as a documentary photographer - as it suits to my personality the most - in 2012 I received 1st place for Creative Wedding Portrait Photography, in 2013 received the award “Wedding Photographer of the Year”. In the same year I received Photographer of the Year award from NME, a leading British pop/rock music journalism magazine. In 2023 one of my photo landed among the finalists of the 12th Leica Street Photo Award.
